Children with special needs, as well as their parents.
Special Night for Special Needs is an event that the Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum puts on every three months. This event was created to set aside a time for children with special needs to enjoy the museum without many of the other noises and distractions. One of the museums goals is for children to learn through play and discovery, and this event helps every child that walks through the museums doors to experience this.
The goal was to create a campaign to attract children with special needs and their parents to this event, as well as address the museum’s mission.
For this project, color and imagery played an important role to create an impact. The use of the photo of this boy was to relate to the target audience and to grab the viewers attention. This image represents the creativity that the museum wants every kid to experience. The rest of the child’s body was made black and white, and the hands were kept in full color to really emphasize them. The use of the box around his eye helps to draw attention and create impact. Doodles were used on the poster to show the imagination that is not normally seen when looking at an image.
